EXTREME Bassist To 'Get The Funk Out' With Students From Deangelis Studio Of Music
November 28, 2012Boston's own Pat Badger from the band EXTREME will "Get The Funk Out" with students from Haverhill's Deangelis Studio Of Music. Come join the fun Sunday, December 2 at 5 p.m. at The Claddagh in Lawrence, Massachusetts to support The Rock School Scholarship Fund.
DeAngelis Studio Of Music, well known for its "Rock School Band" program, is putting together a Christmas party and benefit concert that will rock the Merrimack Valley, to launch their new relationship with The Rock School Scholarship Fund.
The Rock School Scholarship Fund is a 501c3 public charity that helps provide scholarship funds and instruments for children ages 7 to 17 years of age who want to participate in a rock school program.
"Teaming up with The Rock School Scholarship Fund can help our local kids who cannot afford tuition on their own, hopefully making some of their rock n' roll dreams come true," says Mike DeAngelis. "We love what we do at DeAngelis Studio, and want to do all we can to make it possible for more kids to participate."
When Mike DeAngelis contacted Badger to see if he might want to get involved, Pat was excited to do what he could to help local kids. Pat and Mike, who knew each other from the '80s Boston music scene, had the opportunity to reconnect over the past few years. After Pat sat in to watch one of Mike DeAngelis' young bands rehearse, he remarked, "I wish we would have had something like this when we were young!" And that is what this is all about — talented musicians sharing their knowledge and experiences with the next generation. Co-owner Nancy Burger remarked, "Playing music is an amazing thing — we have seen students lives' completely transformed.... The Gift of Music. Let's share it!"
